Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office Forms 23-Member Real Estate Speculation Investigation Team
[Asia Economy Reporter Baek Kyunghwan] The Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, the largest prosecution office in the country, has formed a dedicated investigation team for real estate speculation offenders.
On the 1st, the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office announced that it had organized a dedicated investigation team of 23 members in response to the Supreme Prosecutors' Office's directive for an all-out response to real estate speculation offenders.
Previously, the Supreme Prosecutors' Office instructed 43 prosecution offices nationwide to expand and organize a dedicated investigation team for real estate speculation offenders at the scale of one department. The dedicated investigation team was planned to consist of one chief prosecutor, 3 to 4 prosecutors, and 6 to 8 investigators.
The dedicated investigation team formed by the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office consists of 10 prosecutors, including Ihwanki, Head of the 8th Criminal Division specializing in real estate crimes, and Park Seunghwan, Head of the Crime Proceeds Recovery Division, along with 13 investigators.
In the future, the dedicated investigation team will conduct investigations on cases subject to direct investigation and work on recovering criminal proceeds resulting from speculation. They will also review records of real estate speculation cases handled in the past five years and, in cooperation with the police, handle warrant-related tasks and case transfers.
