Gyeonggi-do to Fly Sewol Ferry Flag Throughout April
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province will raise the Sewol ferry flag at the Gyeonggi Provincial Government Southern Office in Suwon and other locations throughout April.
Gyeonggi Province announced that from the 1st to the 30th of this month, the Sewol ferry flag will be raised at the Suwon Southern Office, Uijeongbu Northern Office, and 15 affiliated agencies and business sites to commemorate the 7th anniversary of the Sewol ferry disaster.
Currently, flagpoles display the national flag and provincial flags continuously. Additionally, on various memorial days and events such as the Sewol ferry anniversary, related flags may be raised during the corresponding month.
Furthermore, among excellent certified companies in the province, if there are special merits, the company’s flag may be raised.

Lee Jae-myung, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, also raised the Sewol ferry flag at Seongnam City Hall during his tenure as mayor of Seongnam to remember the Sewol ferry disaster and urge for a thorough investigation. Since taking office as governor, he has produced a new Sewol ferry flag and raised it every April starting in 2019.
