Chinese Yunnan Border City Locked Down Amid Surge in Confirmed Cases
[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] Luiri City in Yunnan Province, China, which borders Myanmar, has locked down the city as COVID-19 cases continue to rise.
On the 31st, Luiri City announced that 9 COVID-19 cases had been confirmed up to the previous day, according to reports from People.cn and Xinhua News Agency.
Starting with one Myanmar national testing positive on the 29th, 8 additional cases have since been confirmed.
Accordingly, Luiri City has locked down the entire city by controlling the movement of vehicles and residents. To leave the city, a negative COVID-19 test certificate issued within 72 hours is required.
Additionally, all citizens are required to undergo COVID-19 testing. For one week, going out without a special reason is prohibited, and stores other than essential businesses such as supermarkets and pharmacies must close.
