KT Global Store to Expand Staff Fluent in Foreign Languages
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] KT announced on the 31st that it will launch a foreign customer-exclusive service called ‘Ansim (ANSIM)’ starting from the 1st of next month.
Ansim is a customized service for foreigners designed to make them feel as comfortable as using their home country’s telecom products. It consists of ▲Wireless bundle plans for friends ▲Multilingual text notifications ▲KT foreign customer-exclusive call center ▲KT Global Store.
The wireless bundle for friends is a product that offers discounts when up to five foreigners of the same nationality join together. It is available for subscription from April 1 to September 30, and depending on the plan, customers can receive a discount of up to 11,000 KRW per person for 24 months. No additional documentation is required other than an ID card indicating nationality. It is not necessary to link payment accounts into one.
KT will also hold an event in April, providing foreign customers who subscribe to the wireless bundle for friends with a free ‘Hanpass’ remittance coupon worth 20,000 KRW. After subscribing to the service, customers can apply for the coupon by scanning the QR code in stores or accessing the event site directly and entering their information. The coupons will be distributed collectively to applicants in early May.
Multilingual text notifications are a service where KT sends essential notification messages to foreign customers who are not fluent in Korean in both Korean and their preferred foreign language. Customers can apply for their preferred language at nearby KT stores or the foreign customer call center. Currently, notifications are available in English, Chinese, and Vietnamese, with plans to expand the service scope and languages.
The KT foreign customer call center provides consultation and complaint handling for wired and wireless products in English, Chinese, Vietnamese, and Japanese. English consultations are conducted in real-time, while Chinese, Vietnamese, and Japanese consultations are handled via a ‘callback’ system where a counselor contacts the applicant later. From May, callback consultations will also support Russian.
Additionally, as of March this year, the 157 KT Global Stores operating nationwide are expected to continue expanding until the end of the year. KT Global Stores are locations staffed by foreign or Korean employees who can speak English, Chinese, Vietnamese, Russian, and other languages.
KT Global Stores are equipped with guidebooks and posters translated into various languages, allowing foreign customers to comfortably receive various services. The locations and supported languages of Global Stores can be checked on the ‘KT Foreign Customer Portal Site.’
