Experience a Broadcasting Station and Try Becoming an Announcer?... Gwangjin-gu Media School in Operation
Providing Career Experience Opportunities in Broadcasting and Media for Children and Adolescents... Ongoing Recruitment for Participants Including Announcer Experience at Gwangjin-gu Office Internet Broadcasting Station
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Seon-gap) is operating a ‘Media School’ that provides children and adolescents in the area with opportunities to experience jobs in the broadcasting and media fields.
This project utilizes the Gwangjin-gu Office Internet Broadcasting Station, which is equipped with professional personnel, facilities, and equipment, to help students experience practical work and explore their aptitudes and career paths.
The Gwangjin-gu Office Internet Broadcasting Station is the district’s own broadcasting station that produces promotional videos and broadcast content for Gwangjin-gu. Professionals such as PDs, announcers, and directors of photography work there, delivering various district news to residents.
The education targets children in local daycare centers and kindergartens, as well as elementary, middle, and high school students, and is operated in small groups of fewer than 10 people to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Education is conducted for 1 hour for daycare and kindergarten children, and 2 hours for elementary, middle, and high school students. Participants first tour the broadcasting station facilities and then receive education about broadcasting-related jobs.
Participants also get to experience broadcasting equipment such as chroma key technology for background synthesis and have time to become announcers themselves and try delivering news.
Daycare centers, kindergartens, and schools wishing to participate in Media School can inquire with the Gwangjin-gu Public Relations Officer, and applications are also accepted at any time from each household.
Mayor Kim Seon-gap said, “Last year, the 4th most desired job among elementary school students was content creators such as YouTubers, showing that children these days have a strong interest in media and broadcasting fields,” and added, “We expect Media School to be a great opportunity for growing children and adolescents.”

In addition, the district is producing and sharing videos of Media School so that broadcasting experiences can be conveniently accessed via mobile phones and PCs. The videos are composed of announcer, director of photography, and PD editions, and can be viewed on Gwangjin-gu’s official YouTube and Naver TV channels.
