Gyeongnam Province Consults on Child Abuse Response System... Preparing Stronger Measures
Preparation for the Smooth Implementation of the 'Immediate Separation System' Starting from the 30th
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] Gyeongsangnam-do held a meeting of the 'Child Abuse Prevention Committee and Metropolitan Child Protection Task Force' on the 29th to follow up on the government's announced 'Measures to Strengthen the Child Abuse Response System.'
At the meeting, discussions were held on strengthening the expertise of field response personnel, inter-agency cooperation during on-site investigations, the smooth implementation of the immediate separation system, and raising awareness of child abuse.
The 'Child Abuse Investigation Task' has been carried out by municipal child abuse dedicated public officials since October last year, taking over from private child protection specialized agencies.
To enhance the expertise of on-site investigators, the province plans to expand the training hours for new dedicated public officials from 80 hours to 160 hours.
Additionally, experiential field training and legal education will be strengthened, and a new refresher training program (40 hours) will be introduced for already deployed response personnel to accumulate capabilities at each stage of the work.
Furthermore, preparations will be made to ensure the smooth implementation of the 'Immediate Separation System,' which will be enforced from the 30th of this month, to prevent gaps in child protection and to expand protective infrastructure to support the stability and recovery of children.
For managing the situations of abused children, the operation of a 'Child Protection Status Web' will support continuous monitoring of protected children and coordination of protective facilities among municipalities.
To promote the psychological stability and daily recovery of separated children, psychological treatment personnel will be assigned to key child protection specialized agencies, and educational programs will be supported not only for abused children but also for perpetrators of abuse.
