[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Guro-gu (Mayor Lee Seong) has opened a Youth Culture House in Cheonwang-dong (1115 Ori-ro).
On the 30th, Guro-gu announced, "To nurture the dreams and talents of youth and satisfy various cultural needs, we have built and started operating the Cheonwang-dong Youth Culture House."
The Cheonwang-dong Youth Culture House was constructed with a total budget of approximately 7.926 billion KRW, covering a total floor area of 1,885.86㎡ and consisting of four floors above ground. The first floor includes a Smart Hall and a book caf?; the second floor houses the Cheonwang-dong Youth Culture House and Youth Counseling Welfare Center offices and a multipurpose room; the third floor has club rooms and hobby activity rooms for woodworking, cooking, and music practice; and the fourth floor features an auditorium and sports facilities.
Construction of the Cheonwang-dong Youth Culture House began in 2019 and was completed in December last year. However, due to the COVID-19 situation, it was not operated until social distancing measures were eased to level 2, and partial program operations started on the 23rd of last month.
The operation programs consist of a total of 43 programs, including the Smart Y Planning Team, Digital Factory, Media Literacy for nurturing future talents; the Digital Citizen Playground to cultivate civic competencies as democratic citizens; V-Log Peace Expedition Team; Youth Participatory Budgeting; Youth Operating Committee; Village Autonomy Committee; and various creative career experience programs linked with mentors.
In addition, youth and local residents can also rent auxiliary facilities such as the auditorium, sports room, caf?, and program rooms.
Program and rental operations may change depending on the COVID-19 situation.

Guro-gu opened its first Youth Culture House in May 2015 in Gung-dong (949 Buil-ro). It has a total floor area of 1,181㎡ with one basement floor and three floors above ground, equipped with a performance and band practice room, program rooms, book caf?, Dalkkum School (a commissioned alternative school), a large auditorium, and sports facilities.
