Seongbuk-gu Issues Integrity Alert to Eradicate Transactions Using Public Officials' Job-Related Information
Second Integrity Alert to Last About One Month from March 30 to April 30... Activities Including Speculation Using Job-Related Information, Providing or Leaking Internal Information to Others, and Any Other Private Benefit Activities Using Job-Related Information Targeted
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Seongbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) issued an Integrity Advisory on the 30th to eradicate transactions using job-related information by public officials.
The Integrity Advisory is a newly implemented system by Seongbuk-gu to foster an atmosphere of integrity and anti-corruption, issued during vulnerable periods prone to improper solicitations and corruption such as holidays, personnel changes, and vacation seasons.
In February, ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday, the first advisory was issued with the message "No giving or receiving holiday gifts" to establish public service discipline.
This second Integrity Advisory of the year will last for about a month from March 30 to April 30. Seongbuk-gu aims to raise awareness and eradicate corruption by addressing speculative activities using job-related information, providing or leaking internal information to others, and any other activities that exploit job-related information for personal gain.
Lee Seung-ro, Mayor of Seongbuk-gu, stated, "Public officials inevitably bear greater responsibility as they acquire more diverse information than the general public during their work process," adding, "They must perform their duties more fairly and transparently through enhanced ethical awareness and cultivation of an integrity mindset," expressing a firm commitment to integrity.
Accordingly, Seongbuk-gu plans to strengthen continuous inspection activities regarding violations of the public officials' code of conduct among its employees, actively respond to various corruption and irregularities such as illegal, unfair, and improper acts, and eliminate factors that cause corruption at the source, encouraging all employees to lead by example in practicing integrity.
