30-Year-Old Long-Lasting Brand Kyochon, Every Menu Released is a 'Big Hit'
[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Kyochon Chicken started in 1991 in Gumi, Gyeongbuk, with a small store measuring 33㎡ (10 pyeong). In the fiercely competitive franchise market, Kyochon has continuously grown to become the number one chicken company in Korea.
Last year, it succeeded in directly listing on the KOSPI for the first time in the industry. Kyochon’s consolidated sales last year reached 447.6 billion KRW, an 18% increase compared to the previous year, and total sales based on franchise stores surpassed 1 trillion KRW for the first time ever. Only one store was closed, resulting in a closure rate of just 0.08% compared to the total number of franchise stores (1,269).
Kyochon Chicken’s signature menu, the ‘Kyochon Series,’ has been a consistent bestseller since its founding. The savory taste of the sauce made with whole garlic and fermented soy sauce has captivated customers’ palates for years. The spicy ‘Red Series’ has a loyal fan base. Made with juice extracted from domestically grown Cheongyang red chili peppers, it is praised among enthusiasts as having a ‘deliciously spicy flavor.’
The ‘Honey Series’ has also established itself as a steady seller for Kyochon Chicken. Using domestically produced acacia honey instead of farm honey, it is regarded as delivering the essence of sweet and salty flavors. It records the highest sales volume among single menu items at Kyochon Chicken.
