Kim Seok-jun, Superintendent of Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, is giving a congratulatory speech at the unveiling ceremony of the bust of independence activist Yoon Hyun-jin in Gupo on March 27.

He was an independence activist from Gupo. A bust honoring him was created and unveiled to the world 100 years after his passing.
On March 27 at 11 a.m., Busan Superintendent of Education Kim Seok-jun attended the 'Unveiling Ceremony of the Bust of Gupo Independence Activist Yoon Hyun-jin' held at Gupo Elementary School in Buk-gu.
The unveiling ceremony was attended by National Assembly member Jeon Jae-su, Mayor of Buk-gu Busan Jeong Myeong-hee, artist Kim Seo-kyung (designer of the Yoon Hyun-jin bust), Chairman of the Liberation Association Kim Won-woong, representative of Yoon’s bereaved family Yoon Jeong, students, and parents.
Superintendent Kim gave a congratulatory speech, unveiled the bust by removing the tent, and planted a quince tree in honor of Shin Chae-ho.
In his congratulatory speech, Superintendent Kim said, “Today is a meaningful day commemorating the 100th anniversary of the passing of independence activist Yoon Hyun-jin, the first graduate of Gupo Elementary School, by unveiling his bust.”

He also stated, “To create the bust, we will widely publicize the exemplary case of the Gupo Elementary School community and parents, and continue to eradicate remnants of Japanese colonial rule within schools at all levels.”
