Candidates Kim Young-chun and Park Hyung-joon Attend 'One-Year Press Conference on Oh Keo-don's Sexual Violence Victimization' and Make a Pledge
Kim Young-choon of the Democratic Party of Korea (right) and Park Hyung-joon, the People Power Party candidate for the Busan mayoral by-election, attended the press conference titled "One Year Since the Oh Keo-don Sexual Violence Case," hosted by the Joint Countermeasures Committee for the Oh Keo-don Sexual Violence Case, in front of Busan City Hall in Yeonje-gu, Busan, on the afternoon of the 26th. They pledged to create a safe Busan free from sexual violence.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Kim Young-chun of the Democratic Party of Korea and Park Hyung-joon of the People Power Party, candidates for the April 7 by-election for Busan mayor, pledged in front of Busan citizens to work together for the daily recovery of the victim of former Mayor Oh Keo-don's sexual violence case.
The Oh Keo-don Sexual Violence Case Joint Countermeasures Committee held a press conference at 2 p.m. on the 26th in front of Busan City Hall under the slogan "Daily life for the victim, strict punishment for the perpetrator."
Both candidates from the two major parties running for the Busan mayoral by-election attended the event side by side.
At the press conference, the committee stated, "Regardless of which of the two Busan mayoral candidates who pledged in front of Busan citizens is elected, we will continue to monitor how all the promises are realized through actual city administration thereafter."
After the announcement of the press release, the two candidates signed the "Busan Mayor Candidate Pledge" prepared by the committee.
The pledge included an apology to the victim and a commitment to creating a gender-equal Busan.

The committee said, "For one year after the Oh Keo-don sexual violence case, basic support for ensuring the victim's safety and daily recovery was not properly discussed, and only secondary damage and pressure continued," adding, "Former Mayor Oh Keo-don should humbly acknowledge his crime as it is, cancel the appointment of a luxurious legal team, and accept punishment."
