[Profile] Kim Woo-ho, Head of the Ministry of Personnel Management
[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Jeong-min] Kim Woo-ho, appointed as the 5th Commissioner of the Ministry of Personnel Management, was born in 1963 and is from Gochang, Jeonbuk.
He graduated from Jeonju High School in Jeonbuk and majored in German Language and Literature at Seoul National University, where he also earned a master's degree in Public Administration. He obtained a master's degree in Public Policy from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a doctorate in Public Administration from the University of Seoul.
A 37th-grade civil service examination pass, he is an expert who has held key positions such as Director and Deputy Commissioner of the Talent Recruitment Bureau at the Ministry of Personnel Management.
He previously served as the first Personnel Secretary under the Moon Jae-in administration. Kang Min-seok, spokesperson for the Blue House, said, "He has led innovations in personnel policies, including diversifying recruitment channels for public officials," and added, "We expect him to steadily carry out urgent tasks such as establishing strict public service ethics and promoting proactive administration."
In his inaugural speech, Commissioner Kim Woo-ho emphasized, "The mission given to the Ministry of Personnel Management now is to create a government that empowers the people so that they can regain their precious daily lives and our economy can recover."

Commissioner Kim stated, "The standard of public officials' lives is the people's perspective. I will establish strict public service ethics," and pledged, "The executives, including myself, will proactively communicate with the media, the National Assembly, and others by approaching them first, humbly accept external voices, and actively reflect them in policies."
