[Shareholders Meeting] SKT Park Jung-ho "Disney Seems to See Wave as a Competitor"
[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Cha] Park Jung-ho, CEO of SK Telecom, has virtually denied the possibility of collaboration between the company's online video service (OTT) Wavve and Disney Plus.
On the 25th, after the 37th SK Telecom shareholders' meeting, Park Jung-ho met with reporters and, when asked about the possibility of a partnership with Disney Plus, said, "Disney sees Wavve as a competitor," adding, "However, the Netflix CEO told me to meet if I have time."

With global OTTs such as Netflix, which has already launched in Korea, and Disney Plus actively entering the Korean market this year, there is growing interest in what kind of partnership strategy SK Telecom will pursue. Some in the market also speculate about the possibility of SK Telecom utilizing Amazon Prime, a service from Amazon with which it has established a close cooperative relationship.
