Samjin Fish Cake Rises to the Throne of Seafood Processed Food Brand Power
Selected as the 'No.1 Brand' in the 2021 K-BPI ... 23rd Korea Industry Survey in the Seafood Processed Food Category
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Busan's local fish cake specialty brand, ‘Samjin Eomuk,’ has claimed the throne in domestic seafood processed food brand power.
Samjin Food (CEO Hwang Chang-hwan) announced that its fish cake brand, Samjin Eomuk, was selected as the number one brand in the seafood processed food category in the ‘2021 23rd Korea Industry Brand Power Index (K-BPI)’ hosted by the Korea Management Association Consulting (KMAC).
The seafood processed food category began its first survey in 2020, and Samjin Eomuk was chosen as the first number one brand.
The Korea Industry Brand Power Index (K-BPI) quantifies the influence of a brand on consumer purchasing behavior and is used as an indicator to gauge brand power.
Samjin Eomuk received high evaluations in consumer survey items such as brand awareness, availability, and preference.
To celebrate being selected as the number one brand in the K-BPI seafood processed food category, Samjin Eomuk is holding a customer appreciation event.
The event involves writing congratulatory comments on the event post on Samjin Eomuk’s official Instagram account, with a draw to award generous prizes. The event runs until the 11th of next month.
Samjin Food CEO Hwang Chang-hwan said, “Winning first place in Korea Industry Brand Power is a meaningful result that recognizes the excellence of the Samjin Eomuk brand by consumers,” adding, “We will further solidify our position as a brand that leads innovation and dominates the market.”
Samjin Eomuk has led the expansion of the fish cake market by developing fish cakes, which were originally side dishes, into bakery-style snacks, sparking a nationwide fish cake craze.

Recently, it participated in the sodium reduction project hosted by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety and launched ‘Our Family’s Meticulous Fish Cake,’ a low-sodium fish cake using sodium reduction technology, recording cumulative sales of approximately 650,000 packs.
