Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture Launches '2021 Seoul Live' Contest to Revitalize Indie Music

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] The Seogyo Art Experiment Center of the Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture announced on the 24th that it will begin accepting applications for the '2021 Seoul Live' support project to revitalize Hongdae indie music.
'Seoul Live' is a project promoted by the Seogyo Art Experiment Center since 2019, in collaboration with the 'Seoul Live Promotion Team' composed of experts from the indie scene. It has supported various activities targeting all members of the indie music ecosystem, including indie musicians, planners, engineers, and fans.
This year's support scale is approximately 80 teams across two categories: ▲Indie Music D.I.Y Project ▲Live Planning Performances, with a total budget of 220 million KRW.
The 'Indie Music D.I.Y Project,' which supports various ideas related to indie music, targets diverse content production and projects related to the activities of indie musicians who have officially released music. A total of 40 projects will be supported with 2.5 million KRW each.
Eligible projects include ▲album cover design in collaboration with visual artists ▲profile photos or live video production for musician promotion ▲musician performance costume production ▲media related to indie music (YouTube, podcasts, magazines) production ▲musician merchandise development, among others.
The 'Live Planning Performances,' which support active exchange performances in the indie scene, provide support for small-scale performances involving one or more musicians at venues located in Seoul equipped with professional equipment and with performance experience. Musicians participating in the performances can be domestic or international, with a total of 40 projects supported at 3 million KRW each.
'2021 Seoul Live' applications can be submitted by anyone constituting the indie music ecosystem, including musicians, performance planners, venue operators, and fans of indie musicians, through the Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture website from the 26th until April 12th. A project briefing session will also be held on April 2nd at 3 PM via the foundation's official YouTube channel 'Spark TV.'

Kim Jong-hwi, CEO of the Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture, stated, “As COVID-19 prolongs, we have come to deeply appreciate the value of face-to-face performances where musicians and audiences meet. We will support various creative activities while adhering to quarantine guidelines to restore the time when indie music was freely enjoyed.”
