[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chunhan] At 7:04 PM on the 23rd, a fire broke out on coastal gillnet fishing vessel A, weighing 9.77 tons, about 4 km south of Byeongpungdo, Jindo-gun, Jeollanam-do.
Upon receiving the report, the Mokpo Coast Guard urgently requested rescue support from nearby fishing vessels operating in the area and safely rescued all five crew members.
The Coast Guard dispatched eight patrol vessels and one aircraft to the scene and is currently conducting firefighting and marine pollution prevention operations using fire monitors and other equipment.
