High Pathogenic Avian Influenza Suspected Case Detected at Broiler Duck Farm in Naju, Jeonnam
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] A suspected case of highly pathogenic avian influenza (AI) has been reported at a meat duck farm in Naju, Jeollanam-do.
On the 23rd, the Central Avian Influenza Countermeasures Headquarters (CAC) announced that after receiving a suspicion report of deaths at the farm, tests conducted by the livestock quarantine agency detected the H5 type AI antigen.
Currently, detailed testing is underway, and the determination regarding high pathogenicity is expected within 1 to 3 days. The CAC has restricted access to the farm and is conducting an epidemiological investigation. Proactive quarantine measures such as movement restrictions, surveillance, and testing will be implemented for farms within a 10 km radius.

A CAC official stated, "Poultry farmers must disinfect all areas of the farm, vehicles, people, and equipment, and strictly follow basic rules such as changing boots and disinfecting hands when entering the livestock barns."
