Job creation (創職, Job Creation), which means creating a job based on one’s favorite work and ideas, has emerged as a new alternative to the middle-aged unemployment problem. The city is helping middle-aged people in Daegu (aged 40 to 64) start their second life with exciting middle age and new job programs by supporting job creation.
I create my own job! The ‘Daegu Middle-aged Job Creation School (hereafter Job Creation School)’ aims to “prepare for lifelong jobs through job creation instead of job seeking in an era without employment.” It is expected to provide a breakthrough for middle-aged people with experience and career who have no proper occupational alternatives in the employment cliff era by discovering new job models.
It also presents approaches to new employment models for middle-aged job creation, shares ways to overcome the shortage of middle-aged jobs and mismatches in preferred occupations, and provides opportunities to discover one’s own job and create new jobs through a job creation contest.
The second session of the Job Creation School will be held every Thursday from 2:00 PM to 5:50 PM for 9 weeks from April 1 to May 27. Specifically, it includes an 8-week job creation academy program and a 9th-week job creation contest where individuals declare their job creation and outstanding creators are awarded.
The main programs consist of business programs that can be practically applied to job creation activities, such as ▲recognizing the era’s significance of job creation ▲understanding the step-by-step process of job creation ▲sharing various job creation cases ▲job creation simulation through writing a job creation plan.
Applications can be made on the One-Stop Job Support Center website, and for more details, inquiries can be made through the One-Stop Job Support Center.

Center Director Shin Dong-ho said, “I hope the Daegu Middle-aged Job Creation School will be a ray of hope for middle-aged job seekers in the region who are having difficulties preparing for job seeking due to COVID-19,” adding, “In particular, I hope that many middle-aged people, including career-interrupted women and retirees, who are dreaming of a new future and engaging in job seeking activities, as well as related local organizations, will show great interest. We expect this to be an alternative to overcoming unemployment problems.”
