Gyeongnam Province Expands Solar Power to 7 Low-Income Rental Apartment Complexes
A Total of 622 kW Across 7 Complexes in 6 Cities Including Changwon-si
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] Gyeongsangnam-do is promoting the 'Low-Income Rental Apartment Solar Power Supply Project' in six cities: Changwon, Jinju, Tongyeong, Sacheon, Gimhae, and Yangsan.
The Low-Income Rental Apartment Solar Power Supply Project involves installing solar power generation facilities on the roofs of rental apartments.
The energy produced by the power generation facilities is used for common facilities such as elevators and security lights in the rental apartments, and residents receive discounts on common electricity bills.
This aims to reduce the electricity bill burden on low-income households and actively respond to the renewable energy transition policy.
This year, a capacity of 622 kW will be supplied to 7 rental apartment complexes with 5,391 households, and an annual electricity bill saving effect of 140 million KRW is expected, with 26,000 KRW saved per household.
An official from the province stated, "The rental apartment solar power supply project is a model case of realizing energy welfare, and we will actively promote various projects to eliminate energy welfare blind spots for vulnerable groups and expand the supply of renewable energy."
