Jangheung Meat Duck Farm Confirmed with Highly Pathogenic AI... 107th Domestic Farm Case
[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] A highly pathogenic avian influenza (AI) case has been confirmed at a meat duck farm in Jangheung, Jeonnam.
The Central Avian Influenza Countermeasures Headquarters (CAC) announced on the 22nd that during the surveillance and inspection process by quarantine authorities the previous day, the farm where H5-type AI antigen was detected underwent a detailed examination, confirming it as the highly pathogenic H5N8 strain.
With this, the total number of highly pathogenic AI cases reported at domestic poultry farms and experience farms has reached 107.
The CAC implemented enhanced quarantine measures including preventive culling of poultry raised at farms near the outbreak site, movement restrictions, and intensive disinfection.

A CAC official emphasized, "Farm owners should be especially careful with quarantine measures, recognizing that contamination outside the livestock barns may be widespread," adding, "It is essential to disinfect all areas of the farm, vehicles, people, and equipment, and to strictly follow basic rules such as changing boots when entering and exiting the barns."
