AstraZeneca Plans to Request Emergency Use Authorization for Vaccine in the US
[Asia Economy New York=Correspondent Baek Jong-min] AstraZeneca (AZ) plans to apply for emergency use authorization for its COVID-19 vaccine in the United States.
Rud Dobeer, head of AstraZeneca's biopharmaceutical division, appeared on CNBC on the 22nd (local time) and said, "We plan to apply for emergency use authorization (EUA) for the COVID-19 vaccine from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in early April."
Dobeer emphasized that the timing of approval is up to the U.S. authorities. He added that if approval is granted quickly, they hope to deliver 30 million doses.
Currently, three COVID-19 vaccines have received emergency use authorization in the U.S.: Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson.
