Imsil-gun Plays Key Role in Supporting Crop Disaster Insurance Program
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Nosik] The crop disaster insurance support project in Imsil-gun, Jeonbuk, is playing a crucial role.
On the 22nd, Imsil-gun announced that as part of the 7th local government administration's pledge project, it is supporting 10% out of the 20% self-pay rate for crop disaster insurance.
Initially, in 2018, the support for the self-pay rate was 5% out of 20%, but from 2019, it was raised to 10% and has been supported since then.
Thanks to this support, the number of crop disaster insurance subscriptions significantly increased by 172%, from 1,333 cases in 2018 to 2,291 cases in 2020.
Especially last year, when various natural disasters were severe, 1,108 farms received about 2.8 billion won in insurance premiums, providing great assistance to farms experiencing management difficulties.
This year, the county has secured a budget of 1.14 billion won (633 million won from the central government, 190 million won from the provincial government, and 317 million won from the county government) to provide insurance benefits to local farms against natural disasters.
Applicants wishing to subscribe to crop disaster insurance can apply at local agricultural cooperatives by bringing supporting documents such as an agricultural management registration certificate or a farm ledger according to the item application period.
The county is making efforts to promote the subscription by distributing promotional materials and holding meetings with town and township heads according to the subscription periods for various items, so that many farms can subscribe to crop disaster insurance and reduce their burden from various disasters.

County Governor Sim Min said, “Last summer, there was considerable damage to farms due to natural disasters such as heavy rain and typhoons, but many farms benefited from crop disaster insurance. Since the county will bear part of the cost again this year, I hope many farms subscribe to the insurance and receive compensation for damages caused by natural disasters.”
