According to the province on the 22nd, the simulation training for COVID-19 vaccine inoculation was held at the Mokpo Indoor Gymnasium, where the first regional vaccination center in Jeonnam was established.
This training was conducted in preparation for the start of Pfizer vaccine inoculations for seniors aged 75 and older from next month. It was carried out to check all processes of vaccination from preparation to adverse reaction monitoring and to supplement and improve any deficiencies.
The training assumes a real vaccination situation and measures and analyzes the time taken at each stage, from vaccine dispensing and target recipient check to medical questionnaire completion, consultation, inoculation, and observation of adverse reactions.
About 60 people participated in the training, including 30 vaccine recipients, provincial and health authorities, city and county officials, fire department, army, police, and firefighters. Participants strictly adhered to the 2-meter social distancing marked on the floor from the moment they entered the vaccination center.
The target recipients for vaccination at the regional vaccination centers are approximately 217,000 mobile seniors aged 75 and older, and about 46,000 residents and workers in elderly facilities, totaling around 263,000 people.
Song Sangrak, Deputy Governor of Jeonnam Province, said, “We will supplement any deficiencies through the simulation training to ensure that Pfizer vaccine inoculations proceed safely and swiftly,” and added, “We ask the residents to strictly follow quarantine rules to receive vaccinations in good health.”
Meanwhile, Jeonnam Province has initially established regional vaccination centers at ten locations including Mokpo, Yeosu, Suncheon, Naju, Damyang, Goheung, Hwasun, Jangheung, Haenam, and Yeonggwang, and plans to install the remaining 12 centers step-by-step considering the volume and timing of vaccine supply.
As of today, among 38,138 vaccine recipients under 65 years old targeted in the first quarter, 33,401 have been vaccinated, showing a vaccination rate of 87.6% in Jeonnam Province.
