Decision on 'Social Distancing' Adjustment Plan on the 26th: "Ongoing Stagnation Situation"
[Asia Economy Reporter Seo So-jeong] The government announced that it plans to decide on the adjustment plan for 'social distancing' to be applied from the 29th on the 26th.
Son Young-rae, head of the Social Strategy Division at the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters (CDSCH), said at a back briefing of the CDSCH on the 22nd, "There are parts that need to be judged while observing this week's situation, so if a decision is made early in the week, there is a possibility that the situation will not be accurately assessed," adding, "We will decide while monitoring this week's situation."
Regarding the continuation of confirmed cases in the 400s despite the weekend effect, it was judged that COVID-19 is in a state of continuous stagnation.
Yoon Tae-ho, head of the Quarantine General Division at the CDSCH, said, "With cluster infection cases occurring in non-metropolitan areas such as Geoje and Jinju, even if the number of confirmed cases in the metropolitan area remains steady, the overall number of confirmed cases is increasing," adding, "Considering the situation and the number of confirmed cases over the past eight weeks, it is difficult to judge a shift to an increasing trend, and it is still in a stagnant state."
