Songpa-gu 'Naegojang Cultural Heritage Keeper' Appointment
Held Online and Offline at District Office on the 23rd... Protecting Urban Historical and Cultural Spaces with Residents
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Songpa-gu (Mayor Seongsu Park) announced the beginning of resident-led cultural heritage protection activities by holding the 'My Hometown Cultural Heritage Keeper Online and Offline Appointment Ceremony' at the district office on the 23rd.
The district has been publicly recruiting 'Cultural Heritage Keepers' for the past month to raise interest in local cultural heritage and enable residents to take the initiative in preserving cultural assets.
To prevent COVID-19 infection, the appointment ceremony will be held with a minimal number of attendees using an online video conferencing platform. A total of 25 'Cultural Heritage Keepers,' including 6 new members, will be active.
They will directly manage four facilities that are nationally designated cultural properties and historical cultural spaces in the heart of Songpa-gu: Pungnap-dong Earthen Fortress, Bangi-dong Ancient Tombs, Seokchon-dong Ancient Tombs, and Samjeondo Monument.
▲ Providing visitors with explanations about the origin and historical significance of the cultural heritage ▲ Beautifying the environment around the cultural heritage sites and maintaining order ▲ Conducting patrols to prevent theft, fire, loss, and damage of cultural properties.
The activity period is from the appointment date until October 31, and volunteer hours will be recognized through the Songpa-gu Volunteer Center.
