[Asia Economy New York=Correspondent Baek Jong-min] On the 19th (local time), U.S. President Joe Biden met with Asian American leaders and, in a speech, urged people to raise their voices and take action against hate and violence.
President Biden said, "Hate and violence often meet with silence, and this has been true throughout our history," adding, "But this must change. We must speak out and take action."
On the same day, President Biden canceled a scheduled event promoting economic stimulus measures and met privately with Asian American leaders to hear their views on discrimination and violence against Asian Americans.
