Damyang-gun Promotes Ten Rules for Cancer Prevention
[Damyang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Damyang-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 19th that it will promote awareness and encourage motivation for cancer prevention and treatment until the end of this month in observance of Cancer Prevention Day on the 21st.
Due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic making face-to-face campaigns difficult, banners and signboards have been installed inside and outside government offices with high foot traffic to inform local residents about Cancer Prevention Day and raise awareness about cancer prevention.
The county has installed banners and signboards at bulletin boards in 12 towns and townships, as well as inside health centers and health sub-centers, actively promoting Cancer Prevention Day and cancer prevention guidelines to local residents.
The ten rules for cancer prevention are: ① No smoking ② Avoid burnt and salty foods ③ Exercise for more than 30 minutes ④ Vaccination ⑤ Balanced diet ⑥ No alcohol ⑦ Maintain weight ⑧ Safe sexual practices ⑨ Follow workplace safety rules ⑩ Early screening.
A county official stated, “To detect and treat cancer early, national cancer screening should be done every two years. Receiving national cancer screening is necessary to qualify for medical expense support upon cancer diagnosis, so eligible individuals are strongly encouraged to undergo the screening.”
