Regarding the designation of the Urban Convergence Special Zone recently promoted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Mayor Oh took to the streets in front of the Ministry's building for the second time at 3 p.m. on the 19th, following his solo protest in front of the Ministry's main gate on February 24.
He held a placard to strongly appeal for the justification and necessity of attracting the Urban Convergence Special Zone to the area of the "Gijang County Southeast Radiation Medical and Science General Industrial Complex."
Mayor Oh emphasized the urgency of the Urban Convergence Special Zone project, stating, "As the Urban Convergence Special Zone in a metropolitan city is a leading project, it must be implemented immediately."
He claimed, "Gijang County can proceed with the Urban Convergence Special Zone project right away in the Southeast Radiation Medical and Science General Industrial Complex area, which covers 1,478,772㎡ (approximately 450,000 pyeong) and is scheduled for completion by the end of this year, with a county budget investment of 319.7 billion KRW."
Mayor Oh urged, "For the successful establishment of the Urban Convergence Special Zone project, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and Busan City should make a wise choice through a fair and transparent review process based on policy and economic logic rather than political logic, so that all citizens can agree."
