Honam University Operates Rehabilitation Program for Children with Disabilities in Gwangsan-gu
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] The Department of Physical Therapy at Honam University announced on the 19th that it will operate the "Uri Seongjanghaesseoyo" (We Have Grown) program from April to November to assist in the rehabilitation of children with disabilities experiencing brain lesions and motor development disorders in Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju.
This program, conducted jointly by Professor Lee Dong-ryul of the Department of Physical Therapy and Suwan Health Center at Honam University's "SLC Blue Zone," aims to restore motor function by promoting normal development in children with disabilities. It includes "movement assessments" (motion analysis, gait analysis, etc.), "rehabilitation training" (gait training, robotic rehabilitation horseback riding training, upper limb strengthening training, etc.), and also provides "parent education" to enable continued training at home.
Professor Lee Dong-ryul stated, "Through this collaboration with Gwangsan-gu, we expect not only the university's role in the local community but also an expanded learning environment linking curricular and extracurricular activities through the volunteer participation of students from related departments."
