Police Conduct Search and Seizure at Sejong City Hall Over 'Sejong National Industrial Complex Speculation Allegations' (Update)
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] The police launched a sudden search and seizure at Sejong City Hall on the 19th in connection with the 'speculation allegations in the planned Sejong National Industrial Complex area.'
The Metropolitan Investigation Unit of the Sejong Police Agency deployed 12 investigators to four departments, including the Land Information Division of Sejong City Hall, to execute the search warrant starting around 10:30 a.m. that day.
The police plan to secure evidence related to the alleged charges through the search and seizure.
Earlier, the police formally launched an investigation by filing charges against three public officials, including Sejong City Secretary A, for violating the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission Act in connection with the speculation allegations in the Sejong Smart National Industrial Complex, and also filed charges against four civilians.

Designated as a candidate site for the national industrial complex in August 2018, the Sejong Smart National Industrial Complex is planned to be developed over 2.7 million square meters in the Wachon and Budong-ri areas of Yeonseo-myeon, Sejong City. However, even before the complex was designated, suspicious speculative activities such as planting trees or installing prefabricated buildings to seek compensation occurred repeatedly.
