Installation of COVID-19 Vaccination Center at ‘Jungnang Culture and Sports Center’, Opening April 1... 27,084 Seniors Aged 75+ and Total 176,400 Expected to be Vaccinated This Year... District-specific Vaccination Call Centers and Shuttle Bus Service for Elderly Mobility
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) is accelerating preparations for the opening of the 'Jungnang-gu COVID-19 Vaccination Center,' designated at the Jungnang Cultural Sports Center located in Myeonmok 7-dong, scheduled to open on April 1.
The vaccination center will operate from April until the completion of vaccinations, with operating hours from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
Starting in the second quarter, 27,084 elderly residents aged 75 and older will be vaccinated here, and from the third quarter onward, the program will gradually expand to the general population, with a total of 176,400 people expected to receive vaccinations.
Before the full-scale operation of the vaccination center, on March 12, related organizations including the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s Vaccination Support Team, the Ministry of National Defense’s 56th Division, Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, Jungnang Fire Station, Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), and KT gathered for a joint on-site inspection.
The main inspection items included vaccine transportation, center security management, electrical safety, fire safety, and compliance with center installation standards, all of which were completed without issues.
In particular, to ensure the safe storage of Pfizer vaccines, an ultra-low temperature freezer was installed, along with an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) to prepare for sudden power outages, enabling response to any emergency situations.
Additionally, to ensure quick and safe vaccinations, a full-scale simulation drill covering all vaccination processes including preliminary examination, vaccination, and adverse reaction observation is scheduled for March 25.
Transportation options for visitors to the vaccination center will also be provided. A shuttle bus will operate at 20-minute intervals between ‘Saga-jeong Station’ on Line 7 and the vaccination center, and eight shuttle buses will run between major regional hubs and the vaccination center.
The 16 community service centers are also busily preparing to help local residents receive vaccinations easily and conveniently. Each center will assign two dedicated personnel to operate a call center responsible for 'vaccination eligibility confirmation, appointment scheduling, and shuttle bus guidance.' If necessary, public officials or community leaders will visit eligible individuals to provide explanations.
From late May to June, elderly residents aged 65 to 74 will be able to receive vaccinations at local clinics and hospitals. Currently, 107 medical institutions have applied, and their suitability is under review.
Jungnang-gu Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi stated, “We are doing our best to ensure safe and prompt vaccinations,” adding, “We will carefully oversee every step of the COVID-19 vaccination process, from vaccination to adverse reaction response, and will not neglect resident guidance on compliance with daily quarantine measures, prompt testing, and participation in vaccination.”
