211 Students Confirmed COVID-19 Positive Over One Week Starting March 11
An average of 30.1 kindergarten and elementary to high school students confirmed daily
95 schools switched to remote classes... 0.5% of total
31 schools in Gyeonggi and 23 in Seoul unable to hold in-person classes

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] From March 11th for one week, 211 kindergarten, elementary, middle, and high school students were confirmed positive for COVID-19.
On the 18th, the Ministry of Education announced that 211 students were infected with COVID-19 from the 11th to the 17th. On average, 30.1 students and 1.7 staff members were confirmed positive daily.
As of 10 a.m. that day, 20,412 schools conducted in-person classes, accounting for 99.5%, while 95 schools (0.5%) switched to remote learning. Five schools implemented discretionary holidays.
The schools unable to conduct in-person classes were 31 in Gyeonggi, 23 in Seoul, and 11 in Gangwon, in that order.
Among all students, 4,418,745 attended in-person classes (as of 4 p.m. on the 17th), representing 74.3% of the total students. The number of students unable to attend due to COVID-19 was 33,338, of whom 6,544 were in self-quarantine due to confirmed cases or contact.

In the past week, 96 university students were confirmed positive, bringing the cumulative total to 238. Twelve university staff members were confirmed positive.
