- Kraze Burger Launches 'Meat Chili Cheese Fries'
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-seon] The 'red flavor' craze in the food industry is spreading to chili. In particular, meat chili sauce, made primarily from Western-style chili peppers, tomatoes, and minced meat, is attracting consumers' palates with its mildly spicy and exotic taste.
LF Food, a comprehensive food company, recently launched ‘Meat Chili Cheese Fries’ under its premium home meal replacement (HMR) brand Kraze. This product, which combines French fries with meat chili and two types of cheddar cheese sauces, recreates the popular menu item 'Chili Cheese Fries' from Kraze Burger, the pioneer of premium handmade burgers in Korea.
‘Meat Chili Cheese Fries’ features spicy Cajun fries topped with authentic American-style meat chili sauce and cheddar cheese sauce. Adding minced onions and sliced cheddar cheese allows consumers to enjoy the taste of a handmade burger specialty chili cheese fries at home without the hassle of going out.
Ottogi’s American-style hot dog ‘Baguette Dog’ is also notable for its spicy chili meat sauce. The 'Baguette Dog' is characterized by a 22cm large smoked sausage packed with juice inside a moist and tender baguette bread.
Products highlighting the original sweet and sour chili sauce flavor are also being released one after another. Ottogi recently introduced ‘Oz Kitchen Chili Shrimp,’ featuring a crispy exterior and moist interior. It is distinguished by its premium special Chinese-style chili sauce.
Alongside this, 7-Eleven launched a well-being convenience food targeting the vegetarian market called ‘Hot Chili Racha Plant Burger.’ This vegetarian hamburger uses a plant-based patty and features chili corn carne mixed with chili sauce and sriracha sauce along with jalape?os for a spicy flavor. It is also accompanied by tomato and romaine lettuce to add the fresh texture of vegetables.
The chili flavor craze is also spreading to the confectionery industry. Nongshim released ‘Gamtu Red Chili Flavor,’ capturing the taste of seasoned fries, a popular side menu item at fast-food restaurants. The snack is shaped like long sticks with an airy texture, crispy both inside and out like French fries, coated with a spicy, sour, and sweet chili sauce to offer a unique seasoned fries flavor.
