The ‘Emergency Exit Reporting Reward System’ is designed to reward reporters who report violations of the installation and maintenance obligations of emergency exits, which are intended as safe evacuation routes in case of fire.
The reporting targets include seven types of facilities: multi-use establishments, cultural and assembly facilities, sales facilities, transportation facilities, lodging facilities, entertainment facilities, and complex buildings (including sales and lodging facilities). Any resident of the province can report.
Illegal acts subject to reporting include leaving fire pumps in fire extinguishing equipment broken, closing or damaging corridors, stairs, entrances, and fire doors, and installing obstacles that hinder evacuation. Reports can be submitted by visiting or mailing the responsible fire station along with a report form and photographic or video evidence.
Rewards are paid after on-site verification and confirmation of illegal acts, followed by a review meeting for reward payment. The initial reward is 50,000 KRW for the first report, and if the same person reports two or more times, rewards worth 50,000 KRW in goods are provided, up to 300,000 KRW per month and 3,000,000 KRW annually.
