Imsil-gun's 'Osu Uigyeon' Site Sees Smooth Progress in Pet Support Center and Clustered Development Projects
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Nosik] Imsil-gun, Jeonbuk announced on the 18th that the project to centralize everything related to companion animals, including the construction of a Companion Animal Support Center on the site of Osu Uigyeon Tourist Site, is progressing smoothly.
First, the Companion Animal Support Center, which has been promoted since last year, will be built on a 120,585㎡ site at Osu Uigyeon Tourist Site and is scheduled to be completed by the end of next year.
This facility, with a total project cost of 8 billion KRW, will include a pet culture center such as a pet cafe and a companion animal playground, as well as a privately funded companion animal hotel.
Once this facility is established, it is expected that many companion animal families nationwide will visit Osu Uigyeon Tourist Site.
In particular, together with the Osu Pet Memorial Park, Companion Animal National Leisure Camping Site, and Companion Animal Specialized Agro-Industrial Complex Cluster, which were completed last year, it is expected to have the effect of dominating the entire companion animal industry.
Moreover, with the mid- to long-term plan to create the World Famous Dog Theme Land, the status of Uigyeon Tourist Site, the first of its kind nationwide, is expected to be further solidified.
Osu Uigyeon Tourist Site is currently attracting many people as a “safe playground for companion animals” where visitors can enjoy time with their pets without worry.
Recently, the Korea Tourism Organization selected Osu Uigyeon Tourist Site and Osu Riverside as “safe walking trails ideal for walking with companion dogs,” highlighting its appeal as a companion animal tourist destination.
The county, having signed a business agreement with the Korea Tourism Organization for the safe walking trail, is working to attract tourism products that allow car camping with companion dogs within the Uigyeon Tourist Site by June.
Education for training professional personnel specializing in companion animals, involving local residents, is also underway.
As part of the small-scale regeneration project in Osu-myeon, companion animal academy education was conducted in February and is scheduled again next month.
The education aims to obtain certifications such as pet beautician (grooming), companion animal funeral coordinator, and companion animal food manager.
Osu Uigyeon Tourist Site is expected to become a key driver for revitalizing the tourism industry and local economy by providing various necessary facilities for companion animals, attracting specialized companies, training professionals, and creating jobs.
