Former Veterans Association President Park Se-hwan Passes Away
[Asia Economy Yang Nak-gyu, Military Specialist Reporter]Park Se-hwan, former chairman of the Republic of Korea Veterans Association and a member of the 15th and 16th National Assembly, passed away at around 7:25 PM on the 17th. He was 81 years old.
Born in Yeongju, Gyeongbuk, Park graduated from Andong High School and Korea University with a degree in Political Science and Diplomacy. He joined the military through ROTC and participated in the Vietnam War. In 1984, he served as Presidential Secretary for Defense Affairs (Brigadier General), in 1987 as Commander of the 12th Army Division (Major General), in 1991 as Commander of the 8th Corps (Lieutenant General), and in 1993 as Commander of the 2nd Army (General) before retiring in 1995.
He served as a member of the 15th National Assembly (nationwide constituency, New Korea Party) in 1996 and the 16th National Assembly (nationwide constituency, Grand National Party) in 2000. From 1996 to 1998, he was president and honorary president of the ROTC Reserve Officers Central Association, and from 2009 to 2015, he served as chairman of the Veterans Association. He was awarded the Hwarang Military Merit Medal in 1968 for his service in the Vietnam War.

He is survived by his wife Yoo Kyung-ja, sons Park Joon-sung and Park Yoon-sung, daughter Park Hye-yoon, and daughters-in-law Shim Sun-hee and Min Dong-hee. The funeral hall is set up in Room 1 of Seoul National University Hospital Funeral Hall, with the funeral scheduled for the morning of the 20th. ☎ 02-2072-2091~3.
