The Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Chairman Heo Yong-do) announced that on the 17th at 2 p.m., it held the 228th extraordinary general meeting of members on the 2nd floor of the Busan Chamber Hall to elect the 24th president and executives, and elected Jang In-hwa as the 24th president.
Jang In-hwa won 66 votes out of a total of 120 valid votes, defeating Song Jeong-seok, who received 54 votes. Chairman Jang's term will begin after the inauguration ceremony on March 19.
At the extraordinary general meeting, three auditors were also elected: Kwon Ki-jae (CEO of Namsan Tax Accounting), Kim Se-won (President of the Busan Chapter of the Korea Specialty Contractors Association), and Lee Sang-jun (Chairman of the Busan Venture Business Association).
In addition, the election of 18 vice presidents and 30 standing members, who are key to leading the members, will be carefully decided by the new president and the selection committee, and will be announced later at a separate general meeting of members.
With the consent of the general meeting of members, the authority to appoint and dismiss the full-time vice president with a three-year term, which is to be appointed by the president, was delegated to the new president by resolution of the members.
The current full-time vice president, Lee Gap-jun, who has led the resolution of Busan's economic issues for the past five years and seven months, has expressed his intention to resign due to personal reasons.
Chairman Jang In-hwa will officially begin his duties starting with the inauguration ceremony held at 2 p.m. on the 22nd in the Busan Chamber Hall on the 2nd floor of the Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
