[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 17th that it is holding a public contest for the ‘2021 Senior Welfare Fund Support Project’ aimed at promoting senior welfare.
The contest targets projects for promoting senior welfare, including integrated programs for 1st to 3rd generations, dissemination of leisure and cultural programs for the elderly, improvement of senior citizens' rights, and activation of social participation. The total support amount is 100 million KRW.
Eligible participants are non-profit organizations or facilities/institutions under the Senior Welfare Act located in Gwangju with a track record of senior welfare promotion projects. Applications must be submitted to the Department of Aging Society Policy by the 26th, along with related documents, referring to the announcement posted on the Gwangju city website under Notices and Announcements.
Submitted projects will be evaluated based on the appropriateness of fund usage, project feasibility, project implementation capability, and recent project performance. Support recipients and amounts will be decided within a limit of 20 million KRW per organization.
The Senior Welfare Fund is a fund established to support projects promoting senior welfare, such as creating jobs for the elderly, disseminating health and leisure programs, and supporting vulnerable elderly groups, with a total of 3 billion KRW. Every year, executing organizations are selected through a public contest, and so far, a total of 2.9 billion KRW has been supported.
In December, when the projects conclude, Gwangju plans to hold a meeting where participating organizations and senior welfare experts gather to share and discuss opinions for the development of senior welfare, including project performance presentations, expert consulting, and suggestions for improvement.
