After staying in the 300s for two consecutive days since the 15th, the number rose back to the 400s as the weekend effect ended. The number of COVID-19 vaccine recipients increased by 18,283 from the previous day, surpassing a cumulative total of 620,000.
The Central Disease Control Headquarters (CDCH) announced that as of midnight on this day, the number of new domestic COVID-19 cases increased by 469, bringing the cumulative total to 96,849. By infection route, 452 cases were locally transmitted, and 17 were imported.
By region, more than 300 cases were still reported in the metropolitan area, including Seoul and Gyeonggi. In Seoul, 120 cases were confirmed, 182 in Gyeonggi, and 21 in Incheon. Among non-metropolitan areas, Gyeongnam reported 45 cases following 64 cases the previous day. This was followed by Jeonbuk with 21 cases, Daegu 14, Chungbuk 12, Busan and Gangwon 10 each, Chungnam 6, Gyeongbuk 4, Ulsan 3, Sejong 2, and Daejeon and Jeju 1 each. No additional cases were reported in Gwangju and Jeonnam.
The cumulative number of COVID-19 deaths increased by 8 from the previous day, reaching 1,686. The number of critically ill patients decreased by 3 to 100. The number of patients who were declared recovered and released from isolation increased by 559 to 88,814.
On this day, the number of diagnostic tests conducted based on suspected reports was 45,433. At temporary screening clinics set up in the metropolitan area, 28,802 tests were conducted, confirming 62 cases.
Meanwhile, the COVID-19 Vaccination Response Promotion Team reported that as of midnight on this day, 18,283 people received new COVID-19 vaccinations, bringing the total number of first-dose recipients to 621,734. Among them, 587,996 received the AstraZeneca vaccine, and 33,738 received the Pfizer vaccine.

The number of suspected adverse reactions reported after COVID-19 vaccination increased by 252 from the previous day, totaling 9,003 cases. Among these, 8,898 cases involved symptoms such as muscle pain, headache, fever, chills, and nausea. Four additional suspected anaphylaxis cases were reported, bringing the total to 81. No new severe suspected cases or death reports were added from the previous day, maintaining cumulative totals of 8 and 16, respectively.
