Special Investigation Unit, 37 Cases and 198 People Under Preliminary Investigation and Investigation for 'Real Estate Speculation Suspicions'... 182 Reports Received in Two Days
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-ju] As the number of suspects under investigation for real estate speculation by the police has significantly increased in just five days, the investigation that began with suspicions involving employees of Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) is expanding comprehensively.
The Government Joint Special Investigation Headquarters (Special Investigation Headquarters) announced on the 17th at 9 a.m. that they are conducting internal and external investigations related to 37 cases and 198 individuals suspected of real estate speculation. This is about twice the number compared to the 16 cases and around 100 people reported on the 12th.
The police previously conducted searches and seizures at the LH headquarters, business divisions, and the homes of LH employees under suspicion, securing related materials and are currently analyzing the seized items. They have also expanded the investigation targets to include local council members and local government officials. Additionally, the police have formed dedicated investigation teams at police agencies across the country to comprehensively scrutinize real estate speculation suspicions.

Reports and tips related to the case, received through the 'Police Reporting Center' established on the 15th, have approached 200 within two days. Just the previous day, 92 additional reports were received, bringing the total number of reports to 182 so far. The police are reviewing the necessity of investigations and other details.
