GS Retail Udeal to Launch BBQ Delivery Service Starting End of This Month
GS Retail has signed a partnership agreement with Genesis BBQ to expand the delivery service of Our Neighborhood Delivery (U-Dil).
View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] GS Retail announced on the 17th that it has signed a partnership agreement with Genesis BBQ to expand the delivery service of Uri Dongnae Delivery (U-Dil).
U-Dil is GS Retail's delivery service brokerage platform where ordinary people can participate as Uri Dongnae Delivery Friends (U-Chin). When consumers order products from GS25 or GS The Fresh through the Yogiyo or Kakao Order apps, U-Chin delivers them to consumers via the U-Dil app.
This is the first time GS Retail has expanded U-Dil's delivery service scope to the third-party logistics (3PL) area. Until now, U-Chin could only deliver orders generated from GS25 and GS The Fresh, but through this partnership, starting from the end of this month with about 20 major BBQ stores in key cities, it is expected to handle orders from about 1,800 BBQ stores nationwide by the end of the year. Considering that U-Dil is a region-based walking delivery service, GS Retail will link only light-weight orders mainly within a short distance of 700 meters from BBQ stores.
GS Retail's expansion of external partnerships was advanced by about a year from the original plan as U-Chin recruited more than 60,000 people over the past seven months, far exceeding expectations. The initial plan was to recruit 50,000 U-Chin by the end of 2021, but this target was already exceeded, and the goal was revised to recruit 100,000 by the end of this year.
GS Retail plans to actively expand partnerships with external companies starting this year, beginning with the partnership with BBQ, to respond to the increasing trend of non-face-to-face orders and to strengthen ESG management through the spread of an eco-friendly walking delivery platform.

A GS Retail official said, “U-Chin recruitment has achieved results at a speed beyond expectations, firmly establishing U-Dil as an eco-friendly delivery platform,” and added, “We will expand connections with many external companies wishing to partner to achieve both increased income for U-Chin and strengthened ESG management through eco-friendly delivery.”
