Collecting Village Records for 'Yangcheon-gu Village History Exploration'
Village Archive Collection Contest on the Theme of 'The Village's Past and Present' Until the 31st
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Kim Soo-young) is collecting community participation records to create a “Yangcheon-gu Village History Search” that everyone can build together through the collection of village records documenting village development and changes, as well as life with the village.
The village record collection contest under the theme “The Village’s Yesterday and Today” includes ▲ nostalgic photos or related essays of village festivals and events ▲ videos, photos, or sketches capturing the village’s appearance ▲ published historical materials related to the village (map production, village newsletters, magazines, etc.) ▲ records issued by Yangcheon-gu containing notable content ▲ and any other records that reflect the history and life of Yangcheon-gu.
The submission period is from the 17th to the 31st, and any general citizen can submit original or copy village records related to Yangcheon-gu as a donation.
There is no limit on the number of works or specifications per person, and related materials can be sent via email (hyolymi@yangcheon.go.kr), mailed, or submitted in person.
Last year, the district established a record preservation archive in the basement of the Yangcheon Culture Hall to systematically and professionally manage and preserve records scattered across departments that were at risk of damage, and created the first permanent exhibition room within a preservation archive among Seoul’s autonomous districts.

Kim Soo-young, Mayor of Yangcheon-gu, said, “Last July, we held the first exhibition themed ‘Apartment Development of Mokdong New Town Seen Through Records’ and produced videos for an online exhibition, continuing meaningful work to illuminate the history and identity of Yangcheon-gu,” adding, “We plan to collect and exhibit private records that can be shared with residents and prepare exhibitions that reflect the lives of the citizens.”
