‘Even if you have three bushels of beads, you must string them’... Dong-Eui University cultivates ‘experts’ who turn technology into business
Selected for 3 Years in Dong-Eui University Industry-Linked Youth Technology Specialist Development Project
Trained 36 Experts, Supported Commercialization of University Excellent Technologies and Corporate R&D
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] ‘Even if you have three bushels of beads, they must be strung together to become a treasure.’ A project to nurture professionals who turn technology into business is being conducted at Dong-Eui University.
The Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation of Dong-Eui University (Director Lee Im-geon) was recently selected for the ‘Corporate-Linked Youth Technology Professional Nurturing Project’ supported by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology Jobs.
The project period is up to three years until February 2024, with an annual support of approximately 570 million KRW to operate the project.
The Corporate-Linked Youth Technology Professional Nurturing Project is a follow-up to the ‘Youth TLO Nurturing Project’ launched in 2018. It is a project that fosters dedicated personnel for technology commercialization based on research site demands from universities and local companies, thereby activating the transfer of public technology to the private sector.
Through this project, about 670 young technology commercialization professionals are expected to be produced annually from 28 universities nationwide.
Evaluating the status of promising commercialization technologies, demand companies, and activity plans of young technology commercialization personnel, Dong-Eui University received the highest grade, S grade, among applicant universities and was allocated the largest number of personnel, 36.
Dong-Eui University will select 36 individuals, including 27 bachelor’s degree holders as young technology marketers and 9 master’s and doctoral degree holders as company-dispatched professionals, targeting unemployed graduates in science and engineering fields.
Starting from April, they will be trained as practical talents in the industrial field through specialized technology commercialization education and will support corporate R&D by discovering commercialization opportunities for technologies held within the university and transferring them to small and medium-sized enterprises and mid-sized companies.
