KT Launches 'RangTalk', a Safe Communication Service for Teachers
Use Calls and Texts Without Displaying Your Number
[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Cha] KT announced on the 16th that it will launch ‘RangTalk,’ a secure communication service that allows teachers, parents, and students to communicate freely without exposing personal information.
RangTalk is a communication service that enables calls and text messaging without revealing the user’s phone number. It was developed to prevent side effects such as privacy exposure on social networking services (SNS) and contacts outside of working hours caused by the disclosure of teachers’ personal phone numbers.
Although using mobile phones, RangTalk operates by utilizing the wired phone number assigned to the classroom for calls, texts, and other services. The app service also provides features such as notifying information like homework notes, general announcements, and school meal menus, as well as conducting surveys, allowing teachers, parents, and students to communicate freely.
Teachers can set their available call times directly, enabling efficient management of communication time with parents and students. To prepare for urgent situations, an ‘Emergency Alert Service’ is also provided, which sends pre-designated messages for incidents or emergencies. Additionally, considering the reality where face-to-face consultations are difficult due to COVID-19, a bulletin board is provided for one-on-one meetings or questions between teachers and parents.
RangTalk is available to any institution such as education offices or schools that have KT wired phones installed. Users can select a plan among Basic, Plus, and Premium based on the number of SMS (Short Message Service), LMS (Long Message Service), and MMS (Multimedia Message Service) usages. End users such as teachers, parents, and students can use the service regardless of their mobile carrier.
Ilbeom Lee, Head of the Enterprise Wireless Platform Business at KT Enterprise Division, stated, “RangTalk is a secure communication service introduced to protect teachers’ personal information and ensure work-life balance,” adding, “We plan to continuously improve the service by adding features that enable smooth communication among teachers, parents, and students.”
