Youn Yuh-jung, First Korean Actor Nominated for Academy Award in Acting Category (Update 2)

Youn Yuh-jung from the film 'Minari' became the first Korean actor to be nominated for an acting category at the Academy Awards.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) announced the final nominees for the 93rd Academy Awards on the 15th (Korean time). Youn Yuh-jung was nominated for Best Supporting Actress alongside Maria Bakalova from 'Borat Subsequent Moviefilm,' Amanda Seyfried from 'Mank,' Olivia Colman from 'The Father,' and Glenn Close from 'Hillbilly Elegy.'
This is the fourth time an Asian actor has been nominated in this category. Previously recognized actors include Miyoshi Umeki (Sayonara) in 1957, Shohreh Aghdashloo (House of Sand and Fog) in 2003, and Rinko Kikuchi (Babel) in 2007. Among them, Umeki also succeeded in winning the award.
