Gwangju Dong-gu, Opening of the First College of Humanities This Year on the 24th
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Dong-gu Mayor Im Taek) announced on the 15th that it will hold the first lecture of this year's College of Humanities on the 24th at the 6th-floor conference room of Dong-gu Office.
Now in its third year, the Dong-gu College of Humanities plans to meet residents with numerous distinguished lecturers under the theme "Humanities Meeting Myself" this year.
Through the College of Humanities, Dong-gu expects to reflect on our lives living in a spiritually impoverished present and contribute to creating an atmosphere where humanities breathe in everyday life.
The College of Humanities will be held a total of 22 times every Wednesday from this day until November 10. The first lecture will be held under the theme "The Noble Impulse of Humans" by Professor Seong Jin-gi, an honorary professor of Dong-gu College of Humanities (Emeritus Professor of Philosophy at Chonnam National University).
The second lecture, starting on the 31st, will be conducted over five sessions by author Shin Do-hyun, famous for the BTS recommended book "The Power of Words," with his book "I Study Humanities to Live Well."
Additionally, relay lectures will continue with various lecturers from fields such as contemporary art, literature, and philosophy, including media artist Lee Inam, critic Shin Hyung-chul (Chosun University professor), and poet Shin Yong-mok (Chosun University professor).
Each lecture will be operated by accepting prior registration to comply with COVID-19 quarantine rules, and registration is available online via the Dong-gu Office website, the mobile app "Dudream," and by phone.
All lectures will be recorded and posted on the Dong-gu website, YouTube, and SNS.
The College of Humanities lectures are open to all residents and are free of charge. Related information can be received regularly by registering as a member.
