Violist Richard Yongjae O'Neill Wins 'Grammy Awards'
[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] Korean-American violist Richard Yongjae O'Neill (43) won an award at the Grammy Awards.
Yongjae O'Neill received the 'Best Classical Instrumental Solo' award at the 63rd Grammy Awards Premiere Ceremony (pre-ceremony) held on the 15th (Korean time).
The awarded piece was Theofanidis' 'Concerto for Viola and Chamber Orchestra,' conducted by David Alan Miller and performed with the Albany Symphony Orchestra.
Until 2019, Yongjae O'Neill served as the music director of the chamber music group Ensemble 'Dito' for 12 years, leading the popularization of classical music. Since last year, he has been active with the Tak?cs Quartet, a string quartet from Hungary.
