Gwangju City Establishes and Operates Esports Industry Training Center
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 14th that it will establish and operate an e-Sports Industry Training Center to nurture human resources for the e-Sports industry.
The e-Sports Industry Training Center establishment and operation project aims to promote the activation of the Gwangju e-Sports Stadium, which opened in December last year, and the advancement of the game and e-Sports industry through the operation of diverse and specialized educational programs that create jobs in the e-Sports industry, improve awareness of games, and spread a gaming culture that anyone can enjoy.
The e-Sports Industry Training Center is part of the annual implementation plan for the creation of an Asian Cultural City and will be operated by Honam University for three years from this year to 2023. It will be linked with the Gwangju e-Sports Stadium project established in the Haerum Hall of Chosun University, building a close cooperative system with local universities to support the development and growth of the game and e-Sports industry.
Gwangju City plans to support the sustainable development and growth of the game and e-Sports industry jointly led by the city and local universities through collaboration and role-sharing among regional universities, according to the application plan for the permanent e-Sports stadium construction project by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in 2019.
Chosun University took the lead in attracting and establishing a permanent e-Sports stadium within its campus, and Honam University, which has educational infrastructure in the e-Sports industry field, will operate the e-Sports Industry Training Center through collaboration with Chosun University and other local universities.
Gwangju City plans to ensure the success of the e-Sports Industry Training Center project through close cooperation, coordination, and regular collaborative meetings with local universities such as Chosun University and Honam University.
Specifically, in the first half of the year, the project will promote ▲ establishment of training center facilities and equipment ▲ development and distribution of educational materials, and from the second half, it will open and operate specialized and general education courses such as ▲ e-Sports management ▲ broadcasting production and transmission ▲ senior and youth gaming classes ▲ prevention of game overdependence.
