Eunpyeong-gu Family Infection Rate Among Confirmed Cases Rises to 45%
Operation of Mobile Temporary Screening Clinics to Prevent Family Infection Spread... Proactive Testing in All 16 Neighborhoods of Eunpyeong-gu Starting March 15
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] As the proportion of family members among the main contact routes of COVID-19 confirmed cases (see data) increases, concerns about family infections are rising.
Accordingly, Eunpyeong-gu (District Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) is conducting a ‘One Family, One Member COVID-19 Testing’ campaign and operating a mobile temporary screening clinic to proactively respond to the potential fourth wave of the pandemic.
Recently, with the resumption of in-person classes at schools and an increase in spring outings, residents’ movement and contact rates have risen. Moreover, the proportion of family infections among the total confirmed cases in Eunpyeong-gu has increased from 28.4% in the early stages of COVID-19 to 45.1% recently, making urgent countermeasures necessary.
Therefore, the background of Eunpyeong’s health authorities’ ‘One Family, One Member COVID-19 Testing’ campaign is to increase proactive testing to detect positive cases early and take appropriate measures.
The mobile temporary screening clinics will operate from March 15 to 24 on weekdays, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Two neighborhoods per day will be covered over eight days, deploying 176 medical staff and administrative personnel to operate across all 16 neighborhoods in Eunpyeong-gu.

Kim Mi-kyung, Mayor of Eunpyeong-gu, stated, “As the fourth wave of COVID-19 centered on family infections is a concern, swift quarantine measures are necessary. Along with systematic vaccination, we will play a leading role in preventing the spread of infectious diseases through the operation of mobile temporary screening clinics across all neighborhoods in Eunpyeong.”
