Muan-gun to Pay 600,000 Won per Farm Household as Public Interest Allowance for Farmers and Fishermen
Early Payment to Overcome the COVID-19 Crisis
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Oh Hwan-joo] Muan County, Jeonnam (Governor Kim San) announced on the 13th that it will collectively pay the public service allowance for farmers and fishermen through local agricultural cooperatives starting from the 15th to revitalize the local economy, which has been stagnant due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
The public service allowance for farmers and fishermen, first implemented last year, is a subsidy given to farmers and fishermen to recognize the public value of agriculture and fisheries and to promote sustainable rural development by addressing issues such as population decline and aging.
Originally, the plan was to pay 300,000 KRW each in the first and second half of the year, but to support farmers and fishermen struggling due to COVID-19, 600,000 KRW per household will be paid early in the form of the local currency, Muan Sarang Gift Certificates.
This year, the plan is to pay approximately 6.04 billion KRW in allowances to 10,068 farmers and fishermen. Recipients should bring their ID cards and visit the local agricultural cooperative branch in their area on the designated allowance distribution day for their village.
